Today, my friend was talking to me about the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, At Stranger Tides (I am so excited to see it, by the way!). I was saying how much I love those movies, and she seemed surprised, dumbfounded that I, who apparently appear as a ditzy, girly-girl who only watches Gossip Girl (which I have never even seen, once) or Legally Blonde (I do love this movie!), would dare step foot in to this "scary" action-packed and violent realm of movies. I stood up for myself, with my strong personality, and my friend learned something new about me! Maybe I'm reading too far in to it (I probably am), but I still am slightly insulted by her immediate assumption, I can't even imagine how blondes feel with the automatic "dumb blonde" judgement.
Anyways, my point being that it is important to stand up for yourself, and your peers. One of my pet peeves is when people sit around when something mean is going on, (i.e. bullying!!). Incidentally, I stand up for my friend that I was just talking about a lot; apparently nobody in my class understands that saying someone's stupid, annoying, or looks like a turtle is considered bullying, but, believe me, I make sure they understand that. I sometimes feel like that I am the only one standing up for her, and that makes me feel sad, but happy that I am actually doing something, instead of sitting around, gaping, or, even worse, bullying itself.
In conclusion, I think it is better to be like a woman superhero than a damsel in distress who gets saved by the man super hero (though that can be very romantic!). Us girls have to stand up for ourselves, and set a good example for generations to come!
Yada, yada, yada! I hope I taught you something today. Ciao!
xxo Lily
