The Art of Feeling Beautiful 2: A Strong Personality (physical strength also comes in handy too!)

Today, my friend was talking to me about the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, At Stranger Tides (I am so excited to see it, by the way!). I was saying how much I love those movies, and she seemed surprised, dumbfounded that I, who apparently appear as a ditzy, girly-girl who only watches Gossip Girl (which I have never even seen, once) or Legally Blonde (I do love this movie!), would dare step foot in to this "scary" action-packed and violent realm of movies.  I stood up for myself, with my strong personality, and my friend learned something new about me! Maybe I'm reading too far in to it (I probably am), but I still am slightly insulted by her immediate assumption, I can't even imagine how blondes feel with the automatic "dumb blonde" judgement.

Anyways, my point being that it is important to stand up for yourself, and your peers.  One of my pet peeves is when people sit around when something mean is going on, (i.e. bullying!!). Incidentally, I stand up for my friend that I was just talking about a lot; apparently nobody in my class understands that saying someone's stupid, annoying, or looks like a turtle is considered bullying, but, believe me, I make sure they understand that.  I sometimes feel like that I am the only one standing up for her, and that makes me feel sad, but happy that I am actually doing something, instead of sitting around, gaping, or, even worse, bullying itself.

In conclusion, I think it is better to be like a woman superhero than a damsel in distress who gets saved by the man super hero (though that can be very romantic!). Us girls have to stand up for ourselves, and set a good example for generations to come!

Yada, yada, yada! I hope I taught you something today. Ciao!

Madder Than the Mad Hatter...or the White Rabbit

So, today, I wore this vintage styled Alice in Wonderland white rabbit (with a red <3 heart) shirt and cut-out tan sweater.  Little did I realize that four hours later I would be watching the movie! Who knew I had such psychic ability?! I'm so funny, I know, hahahaha.

Anyways, here's my outfit for you! Once again: shirt, sweater, skinny jeans, and black socks covered with    dog hair and other suspicious substances found only on the kitchen floor, I don't mean to gross you out or anything ;).

Oh! I also knotted my tee shirt a-la-kristen-stewart to add a punk rock band type of edge. My trick? I don't actually knot it, I put a discreet hair band around it.  Shh! Don't tell anyone...

Sorry you have to endure all my yacking, more than usual, eh? I guess late night blogging is very awakening to the senses.  Ya ya ya, here are the photos.

the photo magic.  Party!

Perched atop a ladder...Lovin' it!

Up close and personal with the "knot".

Note: why the bold, italicized, randomly red words? I'm gonna do that every time as a short summary of the posts. (o.O)

Three Things I Bought From......Akira Chicago

I have made a discovery! Last weekend, I stopped by Akira, a wonderful store with very hip music, I must say.  It is rather like a hybrid of Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie; three of the best stores ever!  I first stopped at the footwear store, and bought two amazing pairs of flats, then headed across the street to the conveniently located Akira Clothing Store, where I bought two shorts, a pair of pants, tights, and two belts.  The store may seem overwhelming, but I say you should give it a try!

Paperbag style in detail.

Tan, linen paperbag shorts with belt.
Sparkly, comfy, durable, jelly, and bubblegum-scented
flats with cobweb-esque design.  Wish there
was a way to add the scent to this picture
because they smell amazing!

Power to the sparkles.

This belt has a girly, punk rock feel to it.  The sequins around it
feel like snake skin, while the metal bow adds some girl to it.  I love
to pair it with a little black dress, or with a top and skinny jeans.

The Art of Feeling Beautiful 1: Confidence

I am going to start doing posts with key traits to feel beautiful.  One of the biggest of these traits, of course, is confidence.  Confidence in that science test you studied your butt off the night before, confidence in pulling off that risky outfit you wear to a party, confidence in wearing that hat you love but think will draw too much attention, and confidence in yourself.  Confidence is a thing I have struggled with for a while, but now I am learning to be more confident in myself, and believe in myself.
Confidence adds to beauty and personality.  It makes you not appear as a nervous, scared girl, but as a strong, bold woman who is sure of herself.  It is one of the most important traits, in my opinion.  It generally helps get things done.
I actually came up with this post in my head while experimenting with lip-liner all around my face, drawing mustaches, a unibrow, "block" lips, and a rudolph nose.  It relates in a way, though, right?  You can call me a clown.  Actually please don't call me that.

That's my A.F.B. for the day (you guys are smart enough to figure out what AFB means, right? Don't make me write it out!)

Ciao
